Our Networks Division, which focuses on cable systems, is currently recruiting for a Director of Engineering to join our growing and dynamic team in Ajax, Ontario. POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Business Development and Engineering, the Director of Engineering will be responsible for the management of engineering and product development initiatives conducted within the organization through the following duties:
- Conduct market research
- Study technical and economic feasibility for potential opportunities
- Development of product specifications
- Selection and planning of resources
- Management of the development process
- Transfer of projects to the manufacturing environment
- Creation of marketing literature
- Provide Technical Sales Support
- Supervision, selection, training and evaluation of Engineering Staff
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Bachelors Degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering
- Masters Degree or Professional Engineer designation (PEng) would be an asset
- Broad technical and specialized knowledge gained through a minimum of five years engineering management experience, combined ith a minimum of 10 years designing electronics/optoelectronics products including:
- Radio Frequency and optical communication sytems
- CATV HFC systems, or wireless, satellite and/or optical communications
- Experience with or understanding of various data oriented standards and protocols (DOCSIS, DVB, MPEG, Gig E, ASI, and IP)
- Software development experience would be an asset
- Understanding of the role the engineering department plays in a manufacturing environment
- Superior communication skills both oral and written
- Excellent interpersonal skills capable of interacting with all levels of associates both internal and external to the organization
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Previous supervisory/management experience
Position will require up to 15-20% travel including domestic and international. Applicants must possess or be able to obtain a valid passport.
